Kanpur: Sanjeev Gupta, the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Chandrashekar Azad Agriculture and Technology University, Kanpur, said after assuming charge that his main goal was to take the university to new heights on the path of progress and that work would be prioritised accordingly.He held a meeting with the deans and officers of all colleges of CSA, during which he said it was the responsibility of all teaching and non-teaching staff to work together in the interest of the university. Vice Chancellor Dr. Sanjeev Gupta said that for the name and reputation of the university, everyone would have to work together with a spirit of service. He said plans would have to be made with long-term thinking and positive results in mind, which would take the university to the pinnacle of progress.He called upon scientists to provide employment-oriented training to women in rural settings, enabling them to become self-reliant by establishing self-employment.Present in the meeting were the Vice Chancellor’s Technical Secretary Shri Omprakash, University Registrar Renu Singh, Director Research Dr. Mahak Singh, Director Extension Dr. VK Tripathi, Dean of Agriculture College Dr. Kaushal Kumar, Dean Student Welfare Dr. Mukesh Mukesh Shrivastava, along with deans of all university colleges, heads of departments and officers.The new Vice Chancellor’s priorities included providing maximum possible facilities to farmers with the cooperation of the university; promoting research activities at the university’s external centres, leading to the development of improved seeds and technologies; working with a positive mindset and providing students with education on par with international standards; emphasising education that enabled students to establish self-employment and become self-reliant; increasing farmers’ income by promoting mechanisation; strengthening basic infrastructure; filling staff shortages; and work on accreditation.
