Kanpur: Two brothers were killed in a violent dispute over crop division in the Rampura area of UP’s Jalaun district late Monday after one of them shot the other and was then beaten to death by their father and younger sibling.ASP Ishan Soni said that Jay Narayan Chaturvedi, 70, a resident of Mirzapur Jagir, had three sons, Kailash (43), Jitendra alias Allu (33) and Guddu (26), who lived separately and were engaged in farming.According to villagers, a dispute over the division of crops had been brewing for the past two days, with Jitendra objecting to the share allotted to him. The disagreement eventually escalated into a fatal confrontation.Wheat harvesting was scheduled on Monday evening and the family had gathered at the fields. Police said Jitendra arrived and started arguing with both brothers. When Kailash objected, Jitendra fired from a country-made pistol, killing him on the spot.CO Ambuj Yadav said after shooting Kailash, Jitendra also pointed the country-made pistol at his father and younger brother, following which both attacked him with sticks and rods. Jitendra suffered serious injuries due to continuous blows and died on the spot.Police said Jay Narayan and Guddu remained at the scene after the incident and informed them. The police took both bodies into custody and sent them for post-mortem, and took the accused into custody.
