Kanpur: A sub-inspector was severly injured after he was run over by a vehicle while he was conducting vehicle checking under Tikra Chowki of Bithoor police station area in Kanpur, at 1am late on Monday nightAccording to sources, Tikra Chowki in-charge Balendra Singh tried to stop an SUV but the driver fled towards Tikra town running the vehicle over S-I Pradeep Kumar and a trader, Phool Singh Kashyap. The SUV went out of control near Pandu river and fell into a 10ft deep ditch. The SUV occupants fled from the spotFellow police personnel rushed the injured cop to a hospital. Kashyap, a resident of Kashyap Nagar under Kalyanpur police station area in Tikra town, was taken to a private nursing home in Kalyanpur where he succumbed to injuries.Bithoor Station In-charge inspector Ashok Kumar Saroj said that the police have removed the damaged vehicle with the help of a JCB and seized it. The injured S-I is undergoing treatment at Paras Hospital in Singhpur. A search for the accused is underway.
