DM meets students at newly transformed library

Kanpur: District magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh on Wednesday interacted with students at the newly upgraded district library, which has undergone a significant transformation, doubling its seating capacity to 120 students.The initiative to transform the library was undertaken by Singh, who had encouraged companies to allocate CSR funds toward improving the facility, and making it more conducive for serious academic preparations.During his visit, he assured the students that further improvements would be done in the library and modern amenities would be added in the future.The ground floor has been converted into a well-equipped reading hall, offering a comfortable and quiet environment for students.Officials said that special emphasis has been laid on enhancing infrastructure, including the provision of adequate chairs and tables, RO-purified drinking water, clean restrooms, improved lighting, and a more organized book arrangement system.Library in-charge, Prashant Kumar Dwivedi informed that approximately 50 students visit the library daily. Apart from competitive exam materials, the library offers books on literature, science, mathematics, history ,culture, biographies, and other subjects.The library remains open daily from 8.00am to 5.00pm, and a three-year membership is available at a nominal fee of ₹500.With its improved infrastructure and focused environment, the district library is steadily emerging as a preferred destination for students preparing for various competitive examinations.
