Sanitation staff protest again for demands

Jaipur: Sanitation workers of Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) staged a protest outside JMC headquarters at Lal Kothi Tuesday to demand that several long-pending issues be addressed. They sat on protest from 11am to 3pm, saying they complained many times to the authorities but did not receive any redress.Their main demands include pending promotions, union elections delayed for 14 months, lack of clarity on RGHS deductions, unpaid arrears, and GPF money not being deposited. They also said their leaves are often cancelled without giving compensatory leave.Pawan Chaudhary, a union representative candidate, said, “We spoke to the JMC commissioner, who asked us for seven days to resolve our issues. If nothing happens, we will hold a bigger protest next week.”Workers also said notices issued to them and the biometric system were affecting their service records. The protest ended after officials heard them, but workers are still unsure if their problems will be resolved or not.
