Woman held for duping patient’s attendant of jewellery worth Rs 3L

Kanpur: Police arrested a woman for allegedly duping an elderly attendant of a patient at a hospital, of jewellery worth around Rs3 lakh, by luring her with promises of free treatment and financial assistance.The victim, Jagdei, a resident of Faizullapur in Fatehpur district, had come to a cardiology hospital for the treatment of her husband Shivmohan Pal. On Monday, the accused allegedly approached her posing as a helper and assured her of arranging free treatment and monetary aid.Falling into the trap, the elderly woman handed over her jewellery to the accused, who then fled the spot.Acting on the complaint, police launched an investigation and identified the accused through CCTV footage. Swaroop Nagar inspector Devendra Singh said that the accused, Anita Dubey, a resident of Achalganj Badarka in Unnao, was arrested and the stolen jewellery was seized from her possession.Police said further legal action is being taken in the case.
