BJP targets Cong over refinery delay

Jaipur: Former BJP state president Satish Poonia on Thursday accused the Congress of delaying the Pachpadra refinery project, inflating costs, and claimed the BJP govt saved Rs 40,000 crore by reviving it.Targeting the opposition, Poonia alleged a “culture of delay and diversion” led to setbacks during Congress rule. “Had the project not been stalled, Rajasthan would have benefited earlier, especially in times of crisis,” he said. He said the Union Cabinet has approved a revised project cost of Rs 79,459 crore and termed the refinery a major boost for the state. The project is scheduled for inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 21. On Jaipur Metro Phase-2, Poonia said the 41-km corridorтАФlinking Sitapura to VKIтАФis four times larger than the 11km Phase-1 and will cost Rs 13,037 crore with equal Centre-state funding. He alleged Phase-1 was launched for electoral gains, burdening the state due to lack of central support. MoS for home Jawahar Singh Bedam said Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma’s visits to Delhi aim to secure development projects. He accused Congress of “vote bank politics,” contrasting it with BJP’s focus on governance and welfare, and took a swipe at former CM Ashok Gehlot over frequent trips to the capital.
