Bhilwara: Police Wednesday arrested a 20-year-old man from Bengaluru for allegedly using a fake name and address on Instagram to befriend a minor girl in Bhilwara’s Shahpura area and attempting to pressure her into marriage. The investigation began after the girl’s mother filed a report with Bhilwara SP Dharmendra Singh on Feb 23. She alleged that a man using the name Aryan Singh Rajput had befriended her daughter on social media and exerted pressure her to consider marriage. The SP said the investigation revealed that the man was not who he claimed to be. “We found that his name is Murshidul Islam Laskar, a resident of Hailakandi district in Assam, originally from Bengaluru,” he said. Police at Shahpura station registered a case against the accused under several legal provisions, including BNS, Information Technology Act, and Pocso Act. Utilising technical resources, police were able to track Murshidul at his residence in Bengaluru and brought him to Bhilwara. tnn
