Kanpur: A 14-year-old girl died under suspicious circumstances in the Rail Bazar area of Kanpur after she allegedly consumed mosquito repellent liquid, police said.Family members said the girl took the step after her mother scolded her for not going to coaching. Police sent the body for postmortem and started an investigation.Shailendra Shukla, a resident of Loco Colony under Rail Bazar police station area, worked as a senior technician in the Railways. His family included his wife Sahal Shukla, daughter Aarya (14), and son Shashwat.According to the father, on late Saturday evening, Aarya was supposed to go to coaching but refused, following which her mother scolded her. The girl then went to her room in anger. When she did not come out for a long time, her mother went to call her and found her unconscious on the bed after opening the door. An empty liquid bottle was lying nearby.The family took her to a nearby private hospital, from where she was referred to Lala Lajpat Rai (LLR) hospital. Doctors at LLR declared her dead.After receiving information, police reached the spot, carried out an investigation and recovered an empty liquid bottle from the room before sending the body for postmortem.According to the police station in-charge, the family stated that the girl took the step after being scolded by her mother. Police said they were awaiting the postmortem report, based on which further action would be taken.
