Kanpur: Police arrested a youth for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old mentally challenged and deaf-mute girl who was alone at home in a city village, after registering a case under sections of rape, the POCSO Act and other provisions.The father of the victim told the police that on March 12, he went to the field with his wife for labour work, leaving their daughter alone at home. It is alleged that during this time, the accused, who lived in the neighbourhood, entered their house, took the girl to a nearby hut and forcibly raped her.According to the complaint, when the girl raised an alarm, a woman from the village arrived and the accused fled. When a complaint was made to the accusedтАЩs parents, they apologised and said they would send the accused away. Due to social shame, no complaint was filed anywhere.It is alleged that on the night of April 7, the accused again entered the house through the roof. The family woke up, raised an alarm and the accused fled.
