Woman found dead by roadside in Jaipur’s Chomu, murder suspected

Jaipur: A woman was found dead by the roadside in Anand Lok area under the Chomu police station Monday morning, with police suspecting murder.The deceased was identified as Meenu Sharma (42), a resident of a village under Govindgarh police station limits in Jaipur rural. Her body was found near the road connecting Bhatton Ki Gali railway underpass, triggering alarm among locals.On being alerted, station house officer Harbendra Singh reached the spot with his team and initiated a probe. “The condition of the body and injury marks clearly suggest murder. Prima facie, it appears the woman was killed elsewhere and the body was dumped here,” he said.Police found severe head injuries on the victim, indicating she may have been attacked with a heavy object. A piece of cloth stuffed in her mouth pointed to an attempt to silence her, suggesting a premeditated crime.Cops said no immediate evidence of sexual assault was found. “So far, no circumstantial evidence suggests rape,” Singh added.A keypad mobile phone recovered from the spot is being treated as a key clue. Police are analysing their call records and contacts to trace the victim’s last movements and identify suspects.A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory, Jaipur, collected evidence from the scene and the body was sent for a post-mortem.CCTV footage from nearby areas is being scanned to trace how the body was transported and dumped. Further investigation is underway.
