Jhansi: A 52-year-old man attempted to kill his 50-year-old wife by slitting her throat before trying to kill himself here on Wednesday after being constantly abused by their children.As per the details, the incident was reported from village Basovi, falling under Samthar police station in the district where a farmer, took his wife on his motorbike near a canal outside the village. There, he first slit his wife’s throat with a knife that he had brought with him, and then cut his own throat.While both of them were bleeding profusely, some villagers saw them and informed the police. Taking quick action, the police took the duo to the nearby community health centre from where they were further referred to Jhansi medical college, where the couple are undergoing treatment.Circle officer (Moth) Ajay Shrotriya said that the couple are undergoing treatment.Preliminary investigation revealed that they were being constantly abused by their children and, as a result, they decided to end their lives. “We are investigating the matter and will take further action,” he said.
