Jhansi: An on-duty Army jawan posted in Babina Cantonment shot himself on Monday afternoon by his service rifle killing himself on the spot.The deceased Komal Singh (49) belonged to Gwalior and was posted at the Defence Security Corps in Babina Cantonment as security guard.On Monday afternoon while he was deployed at his point duty, people around him heard a gunshot. As they rushed to the spot, they were shocked to see the jawan lying in a pool of blood.Police and Army officials along with the family members rushed to the spot. Preliminary inquiry revealed that he had placed the nozzle of his rifle beneath the chin and fired. The bullet ripped off through his brain killing him on the spot.No immediate reason could be ascertained behind the sudden and unbelievable action taken by Komal nor any suicide note was recovered from him.SHO Babina police station, Vinay Sahu said, “The body has been sent for postmortem examination and we are waiting for the reports. We are investigating the matter as under what circumstances the Army jawan shot himself ”.
