Kanpur: A case of kidnapping and gang-rape of a 14-year-old girl came to light in Hamirpur’s Maudaha Kotwali village after her father approached police on Friday. Police registered FIR against two youths from the same village, Jagdish and Sunil, and took one accused into custody, while teams continued to search for the other.According to the complaint, the 14-year-old girl was heading from home towards the fields in the afternoon when the two youths allegedly stopped her and took her to a secluded location.Family members said they searched extensively for the girl but could not find her. The girl’s father reached Kotwali on Friday and complained to police accusing Jagdish and Sunil of kidnap and gang-rape of his daughter.Maudaha Police rescued the girl and on basis of a written complaint by her father, registered FIR against the named accused under relevant sections of POCSO Act.During a raid, police nabbed one accused, who was being interrogated. The other accused, Sunil, remains at large. Maudaha CO, Rajkumar Pandey, said a case was registered as soon as information about the incident was received. The girl was sent to the district hospital for medical examination and the report was awaited.The CO said the girl’s statement will be recorded before magistrate. “Police teams are also conducting raids outside the district in search of the second accused and he would also be arrested soon,” he added.
