GST asst commissionerattacked, FIR registered

Kanpur: More than a dozen miscreants assaulted GST assistant commissioner Yogendra Kumar when he went to intercept a truck at Sanigawan in Chakeri area on the evening of April 18. The miscreants also threatened to kill him.The incident took place on Ganeshpur Road in Sanigawan under the Chakeri police station when Yogendra Kumar, assistant commissioner of the state tax mobile squad attempted to stop the truck during checking. The truck driver and his associates misbehaved and assaulted him, after which he filed an FIR at Chakeri police station.According to the FIR filed by Yogendra Kumar, he the state tax department’s mobile squad tenth unit was conducting checking in Ganeshpur along with his team when he received information that a truck was loaded with bottle scrap whose bill and e-bill were made from elsewhere while the goods were loaded from here. The team stopped the truck and asked the driver for relevant documents, but the driver failed to produce any valid papers. Yogendra Kumar then checked the GST portal and found that the e-bill was issued by a Bihar-based firm Sushil Traders, showing dispatch of goods from Fatehpur to be transported to a Delhi-based firm Vinod Enterprises.He stated in the FIR that the circumstances at the spot were suspicious and that 10 to 15 unidentified persons arrived at the spot and one of them identified himself as retired army personnel and owner of the truck. The accused started assaulting team members of the the mobile squad’s tenth unit and also threatened to kill the assistant commissioner. They said if the vehicle was taken to the GST office they would shoot him.The accused forcibly moved the truck from the spot and parked it at a warehouse, affecting the inspection process.ACP, Chakeri, Abhishek Pandey stated that an FIR was registered under various sections, including assault on a govt officer, obstruction of govt work and abusive behaviour. He said raids were being conducted to nab the accused.
