Kanpur: A 28-year-old man died after he jumped into the Yamuna river to avoid a clash after his car collided with another car on the Yamuna Bridge in the Sadar Kotwali area of Hamirpur late Monday.According to police, the Chhatarpur resident, a writer in a registry office, was travelling towards Kanpur when his car met with an accident. An argument broke out between both the parties, after which he suddenly jumped from the bridge.On receiving information, police rushed to the spot, rescued him and took him to a hospital, where he was declared dead.Sadar Kotwali in-charge Devendra Mishra said the family had earlier informed the Chhatarpur Superintendent of Police that the young man had left home in a distressed state and might be travelling towards Kanpur.Acting on this information, Chhatarpur Police alerted Banda and nearby districts, requesting them to keep watch and intercept him if he was seen in the Kabrai–Maudaha area.Police said prima facie, the case appeared to be one of suicide, though the investigation was being conducted keeping all aspects in view.
