Mahana, Pathak pay homage to Pahalgam terror attack victims

Kanpur: A condolence assembly was organised for 26 people killed in the Pahalgam terrorist attack, including Shubham Dwivedi, here on Wednesday.Assembly Speaker Satsh Mahana, Dy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and Shubham’s father Sanjay Dwivedi, his wife Aishanya and other family members attended the event.The programme began on Wednesday evening at Lajpat Bhavan, Motijheel, where tributes were paid to Shubham and the 26 people killed in the Pahalgam terrorist attack. A Pushpanjali Sabha was followed by a Swaranjali event.During the event, wives of martyred soldiers were honoured. Those who were injured while serving in the army and lost their limbs were also felicitated by Mahana and Pathak. Shubham’s wife Aishanya and father Sanjay Dwivedi were also present on the stage during the event.Mahana said that weak and cowardly terrorists carried out this tragic incident, in which “we lost our Shubham. Our family has had a relationship with this family for generations.” He said that when they received information about the incident, he and the Deputy CM immediately contacted Shubham’s father. The priority at that time was to first bring Shubham’s mortal remains to Kanpur.He said when he received information about Operation Sindoor on May 7, 2025, he first went to Aishanya. That day, it felt like an opportunity had come to dedicate something to the martyrs. On April 22, 2025, Shubham Dwivedi along with 25 people was killed in the Pahalgam attack.On the occasion, Aishanya said, “On April 22, 2025, we lost 26 brave souls in the Pahalgam attack—lives that will always remain in our prayers and hearts. Their sacrifice is a story we must continue to tell with respect, unity, and love. Let’s remember them… not just for a day, but forever.”
