Kanpur: A man allegedly killed his wife following a dispute at Bagetha village in Baberu Kotwali area of the district on Thursday. The accused fled the scene after committing the crime.The deceased has been identified as Sharfian (52), a resident of Bagetha village. Police said the couple used to quarrel frequently over various issues. On Wednesday morning, they started fighting again. When the woman was bathing, her husband, Mobin, struck her head with an axe four times. She died on the spot due to severe injuries.Their daughter, upon reaching home from coaching classes, found the blood-soaked body of her mother. Hearing her scream, neighbours rushed to the spot and called up police.Police said they were searching for the accused and conducting raids at possible hideouts. Meanwhile, the body was sent for postmortem and family members were being questioned.Police said the complete sequence of events would become clear only after the arrest of the accused.
