Tea stall worker held for raping minor after tying up her minor brother

Kanpur: A man working at a tea stall was arrested in Kanpur on Sunday for allegedly raping a seven-year-old girl after tying up her 10-year-old brother.Police said the 24-year-old accused, who was known to the siblings, lured them on the pretext of taking them for a stroll on Saturday. But he instead took them to a desolate place and committed the crime, police added.The siblings later reached home and told their father about the incident. The girl’s father filed a written complaint against the accused, leading to his arrest.The children’s father, a factory worker originally from Fatehpur, lives with his family in a rented room in Sachendi. His wife had passed away earlier and he has four children — 2 sons and 2 daughters.The girl’s father told police that the siblings were playing outside the house when the accused approached them.Police said the accused, on the pretext of playing there, first tied up the boy’s hands and feet with a rope and abandoned him near a bridge. He then raped the girl. The girl told police that she kept screaming but the accused did not let her go. She said he threatened to strangle. He fled after committing the crime, leaving the siblings alone at the spot.Sachendi inspector Deenanath Mishra said the accused has been booked under BNS Sections and the Pocso Act. Police will get the girl’s medical done, he added.
