Temp likely to cross 40 degrees in city

Kanpur: Intense sunshine and severe heat are expected to persist in the Kanpur division over the next three days, from April 16 to 18, with temperatures recording between 40 to 42 degrees C, while the nights will remain warm. The sky will remain clear and there is no possibility of rain. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, scattered pockets of clouds may be visible in some areas. However, clouds are likely to move in tonight, potentially leading to a rise in night-time temperatures. Breezy winds may also blow during the day. There is no chance of rain. IMD has issued a severe heatwave warning for north and central India for the next 48 hours. Meanwhile, Kanpur recorded maximum temperature as 38.2 degrees C. Minimum temperature was recorded as 20.2 degrees C, with maximum relative humidity as 65%. North Western wind speed was measured between 3.2 to 4.8 kms per hour. Dr S Sunil Pandey, weather expert, CSA University, stated that north western winds, which were controlling the temperature, became weak, hence temperature might rise gradually. He advised that people, especially elderly persons and children, should avoid movement outside in the noon. He also advised those who used to go outside in daytime to keep a water bottle with them and drink water at regular interval. Apart from it, also wear loose cotton cloths and cap and use umbrella to protect themselves from direct sun rays. In UP, Banda became hottest district with maximum temperature as 44.8 degrees C.
