Times News NetworkJaipur: Heat tightened its grip across Rajasthan Saturday, with most parts of the state recording maximum temperatures above 40°C. Jaipur logged a high of 40.8°C, its hottest day of the season so far — signalling a sharp rise in summer intensity. Churu emerged as the hottest place in the state at 42.8°C, the Met dept said.Attributing the continued rise in temperatures to active northerly winds and the absence of western disturbances, the Meteorological (Met) dept said the mercury is likely to climb further in the coming days, intensifying heatwave-like conditions across several regions.After Churu, Chittorgarh recorded 42.6°C, followed by Kota (42.2°C), Barmer (42.2°C), Vanasthali (42.1°C), Alwar (41.6°C), Jodhpur (41.4°C), Phalodi (41.4°C) and Bikaner (41.0°C). Fatehpur also recorded 41.0°C, while Bhilwara and Jhunjhunu logged 40.6°C each. Karauli recorded 40.7°C, Jaisalmer 40.8°C, and Dungarpur and Sri Ganganagar 40.4°C each. Dabok recorded 40.5°C and Pratapgarh 40.1°C.Among other stations, Ajmer recorded 39.6°C, Sikar 39.5°C, Jalore 39.3°C, Pali 39.4°C, Sirohi and Lunkaransar 38.9°C each and Sangaria 38.7°C. Mount Abu remained the coolest place in the state with a maximum temperature of 30.9°C.In Jaipur, residents woke up to a warmer-than-usual morning, with the minimum temperature settling at 25.4°C, indicating rising night-time temperatures. As the day progressed, the city witnessed its hottest afternoon of the season, with clear skies and dry conditions making the heat particularly uncomfortable and prompting people to limit outdoor movement.No rainfall was recorded anywhere in the state in last 24 hours, and dry conditions are expected to persist. The Met office said that, barring isolated dust storm activity, the weather will remain dry with temperatures likely to rise further in the coming days. Dust storm activity is likely to remain dry in the state and mercury is likely to take an upward swing further.
