Kanpur: A massive fire broke out at a tyre factory in Bilsaraya village under the Gajner police station area in Kanpur Dehat late on Saturday night. The fire spread rapidly due to flammable material stored in the factory and engulfed the entire unit.Local police reached the spot after receiving information and moved residents of the surrounding area to a safe distance. SHO Surya Pratap Singh said, “Fire tenders were immediately called from the Mati fire station upon receiving information about the fire.” Firefighters continued battling the blaze late into the night”.The cause of the fire was not yet determined. Preliminary suspicion pointed to either a short circuit or ignition of flammable materials stored in the factory. A team from the police and fire department was investigating the matter.The blaze is feared to have caused heavy damage to the factory, but no casualties have been reported.
