Rajasthan bars outsiders from girls’ schools, hostels without prior permission

JAIPUR: The state education dept Monday directed that outsiders will be prohibited from entering girls’ school or hostel in the state without prior permission from the competent authority, tightening access rules across govt institutions.The instructions were issued by senior deputy secretary (administration) OP Verma, , with the Directorate of Secondary Education, Bikaner, circulating a formal order to all divisional joint directors to ensure compliance.Under the new rules, individuals visiting girls’ schools or hostels to meet a student must present written permission from the student’s parents or guardians. The order states that no individual shall be permitted to meet any student or allowed to enter the premises without such permission.In all Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas across the state, no outsider will be granted entry into the premises without the written permission of the competent authority, which is the principal, headmistress or superintendent.The directives have also imposed new requirements for inspections. A female officer or staff member must be present during any inspection of girls’ institutions, and inspecting officials have been barred from staying overnight on the premises.An official release from education minister Madan Dilawar’s office said, “The comprehensive measures are aimed at ensuring the safety and security of girl students in schools and hostels, enabling uninterrupted academic instruction, and maintaining institutional discipline.”
